About Thomas C Chan

CEO

Thomas Chan is a financial strategist focused on helping Canadians protect their income, assets, and wealth. With the diversity
of retirement goals, from early retirement, more time with family, or even retirement abroad, the traditional methods of simply
saving are no longer sufficient. Thomas challenges and disrupts the original concept by bringing in new age strategies, life, and
financial coaching systems, together.
Thomas was born and raised in Hong Kong until his parents decided to immigrate to Canada when he was in the 5th grade. He
struggled a bit with English as it was his second language, but still ended up graduating from UBC.
His early career was a pharmacy technician, but because of struggling finances he took on two extra jobs. And starting working
3 jobs out of university. The long hours did pay off, as his overall pay was pretty decent. However, because of the higher income,
also came a higher tax problem.
He would go to the bank for advice, they would ask him a series of risk related questions, but then just throw the money into an
investment. And year after year, he wasn’t sure if the moves he was making were correct. The withdrawals were automatic so
he wasn’t certain on what was going on.
Going back to the banks didn’t seem to help too much as the advisors would always change. They would
get promoted or moved to a different branch. So any relationship with the advisor was short lived.
Thomas felt like he was working with a large corporation and he was just a number on a spreadsheet.
There is the lack of personal interaction.
The advisors had targets to hit. Getting as many people to invest in the bank’s mutual as possible.
Eventually mistakes started happening where because the advisors didn’t speak to one another,
Thomas made too many contributions and got charged penalty fees. This is when Thomas really
started to see a problem. Not only did this happen to him, his friends, but also his family.
Not only were Thomas’s parents aging, but because of improper planning, he realized that he had to do something not only for them, but for other Canadians families
who could be suffering from improper planning.
So in addition to his 3 jobs he started studying to license himself and do insurance and investment advisory work part time. He was mostly led by his core values,
which gave him an edge in advising. Open to learning, constant improvement, and accountability all lead to shaping the advisor he is today.
Fast forward 10 years. Still continuing to follow his values he has now helped over 150 families discover financial clarity and protect them from financial hardship. By
constantly growing he now leads a small team of advisors and also runs an educational YouTube Channel.
You see Thomas doesn’t believe in the advising style of withholding information, and only when you come to him, does he reveal anything. Instead, Thomas prefers that ALL Canadians are financially
well educated. Armed with that knowledge they can then go invest, or prepare financial systems on their own. Only if they need that extra help they can then book a call and speak with
Thomas.
He has created a system where clients don’t feel pressured into buying anything, and they never should. He wants them to go and seek other advisors as well, after all,
he prefers to work in the long term. Only if it makes sense to work together long term, does Thomas decide to push forward.
Constant reviews is another system that Thomas has determined to be vital.
Everyone gets busy in life. As such he wants to make sure that clients are constantly updated on how they are doing
financially, and if any changes need to be made to accommodate the changes in life. That constant flexibility of a
plan that aligns to your life is the way to go.
One of the biggest systems Thomas has launched is his education channel. Here his focus is teaching Canadians
all the financial tools available and how to use them. You see it isn’t about which strategy is better, or which
investment is better. His focus is letting you know how each tool works, then how each tool applies to your life.
He bridges that gap between just knowing the tool, and implementing the systems for specific situations.
Today he is now building a strong online presence with a team of advisors. He believes in getting all the
advisors to meet, to discuss, and to learn together about the different cases they encounter. Together,
they all learn more, and the clients then have the minds of multiple advisors.
Thomas wants to create that culture where no advisor is trying to fight commission over the
other, rather a culture where each advisor is rewarded, and the client receives the maximum benefit.
It’s a system where everyone wins, not just the few.
For the future, Thomas has visions of running his own advisory school. To really spear head the financial advisory system in Canada, Thomas wants to create a large network of advisors that don’t
compete but rather complement each other. How is it possible that all clients get top service, while all the advisors can be rewarded as well.

About Benjamin Swee

COO

Starting out as an engineer, Benjamin always had a knack for tech and building systems. Graduating with bachelors and a

With an interest in investing and understanding finance, he began to invest on his own and before long, he became a
known expert and people would go to him for finance advisory. He decided that since he was able to give suggestions, why
not license himself and work as a part-time advisor.
After a few years, he realized that because he had the understanding of finance, he was better off working on the systems
to support an advisor. And after knowing Thomas for many years, they soon developed a partnership that filled in each
other’s weaknesses.
Thomas who has excellent client relationship skills is able to build lasting connections with clients, who he can work
closely with and give optimal advice. Ben, who has a clear understanding of finances, but also a strong background in tech,
is able to build and maintain all the systems in the background for Thomas to work more efficiently.
Ben is able to not only market Thomas’s content and services to those who need it most, but he is able to also make it easy
for Thomas to know each of his clients better. The idea is building the well oiled engine in the background while Thomas
steps on the gas and steers the car.
For the future, Ben will continue to work closely with Thomas, continue to write copy and market his brand. It’s his mission
to build the speakerphone, for the small business owners with a positive message.
